  4. When the salmon is opaque and the prawns are nice and pink take the pan off the heat and leave everything to cool
  5. Once cool, strain the salmon and prawns into a jug so you reserve the fishy water
  6. Put the salmon and prawns into a blender with a little of the fishy water and whizz to a loose paste. Keep adding water until you get a pourable consistency. Any left over water can be frozen into cat friendly ice cubes!

To avoid freezer burn make sure you take your frozen treats out of the freezer 15 minutes before you present them to your pet. Always check you are not feeding your cat any ingredients that may be toxic or harmful. Stay away from chocolate, grapes, raisins and avocado and don’t give dairy products to cats. If using chicken or fish stock make sure it's a low salt variety or make it at home by boiling bones with no salt added.

This recipe is intended as an occasional treat for your kitty to enjoy in warm weather. We chose prawns and salmon as these ingredients contain lots of healthy oils, protein and vitamins but as with all treats, they should be enjoyed in moderation and as an addition to your cat's usual diet.
